spring cleaning (bedroom)

Next up was the bedroom. I have a two bedroom flat, but I use the larger of the two as my computer room/office. Basically my computers need more room than I do.

If the blinds were open, you’d be able to see The Company’s Sydney corporate headquarters. That isn’t the reason I closed them though! If I opened them then I wouldn’t have been able to take a photograph.

Notice how you can see the floor, and the top of my dresser. Things I found packed away today was another smaller chest of drawers (yes, I apparently had an entire piece of furniture that I hadn’t unpacked, after over a year after moving in), and my soccer trophy. When I was five I was a member of the Purple Rockets, the only team in the league to win all of its games. I contributed primarily in my ability to out pick the opposing team in terms of dandelions.

Hanging over my bed is my favourite picture of rust. Yes. I have a favourite picture of rust.

at work today...

co-worker: what's that you've got on your desktop?
me: oh that's just an image I put there so that I can tell it's me that is logged on and not someone else.
co-worker: yeah, but what is it?
me: a picture of some rust that I took in New York
co-worker: *looks at me strangely*

I feel misunderstood.

SMB Tuba

I was down at Circular Quay yesterday with Torbin and Judy (friends of my mother's) and I heard someone playing the Super Mario Bros. theme on a tuba. It reminded me of my friend Tyler who is a sound designer for EA. On our sojourn through the botanical gardens, we ran into a guy who works for Condi Rice, who was apparently down here at the time.

There were helicopters buzzing about like mad all day. Torbin and Judy opined that they were there to offer protection to the sec-state. After her time in Sydney, she went down to Melbourne to watch the commonwealth games. I watched a little of the games on the TV. England and Scotland compete separately for these games, and Australia dominates the swimming and the bicycling.

I took a number of pictures of the opera house when I wasn't being rudely shooed away by foreign tourists with their own, apparently more important, cameras:

(...many pictures behind this cut)

Things I Like to Photograph

I have finally gotten around to posting on-line portfolios for two recent projects.
New York CityDecay
Please take a look at them and tell me what you think. Last year I took mostly black and white, this year I have seem to have been focusing on color. Unlike my B&W NYC shots, these NYC photos are not really street photography... they were actually a creative interpretation of a landscape assignment I had for Color1. Most of them anyway, I threw a couple more in there after taking the class. The rust shots are all digital... totally experimental. I enjoyed playing with the colors in Photoshop. For you purists, I didn't introduce any colors that were not already there, I just adjusted the RGB curve, contrast and saturation to make them more vibrant.
