Pluto

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that, as Pluto passes overhead through New Mexico's excellent night skies, it be declared a planet and that March 13, 2007 be declared "Pluto Planet Day" at the legislature.

—New Mexico State Legislature

In August I am going to be in the only state in the Union where Pluto is (as it should be) recognized as full fledged planet.

I don’t usually get misty-eyed when reading legislation, but I did when I read “New Mexico’s excellent night skies.” The night sky in New Mexico is pretty, and NM is definitely the Land of Enchantment.

2007 US Tour

Some of you already know this, but for those that don’t, I will be in the USA for most of August to visit good friends, go hiking, and to eat some mighty fine New Mexican cuisine. Here are the approximate dates:

Location

3 August

17 August[1]

 fights[2], museums, movies,
 enchilada night, breakneck ridge, awesome
 friends

New Mexico

If you think you might coincide, let me know. You too can be part of
the action. And knowing is half the battle.

Tyler asked me if I would help him make a first person shooter involving zombies and the Amish. Let me just say that I have nothing against the Amish, and my understanding of them is limited to that which I gleaned from the Peter Weir film Witness.

Today I am driving to work, thinking that I am late (the meeting is in fact 9:30 not 9:00, so I will actually be 20 minutes early) and I have a remix of Bloody Tears playing in the car CD player and I start having this fantasy that the factory building that I work in is actually a run down castle inhabited by my co-workers, who are actually zombies, ghosts, gules and other assorted undead monsters, all of which can be dispatched by a neat *snap* of my chain whip. My manager is that really weak bat creature at the end of Level 1 which anyone can defeat.

A Very Special Nintendo Halloween

So yesterday hiking up Wilkinson Ridge I accidentally volunteered my
apartment for a Halloween party. It's not so bad; I was actually
planning on having another of my New Mexican Enchilada PartiesTM anyway,
now it will just have to do double duty and include costumes. So: What
to be for Halloween. My first thought was to be Starscream. I was
comforted by the fact that in all the time that I have been a fan of The
(G1) Transformers, Starscream has always been my favorite transformer.
I'm not sure why that comforts me, but somehow it does. Anyway, then I
was thinking that Starscream's wings are going to be very awkward,
especially if I go down to the city for the parade. Now I am leaning
toward being Simon Belmont. No masks required for that one. I think
with a whip, and some medieval armor I could make a passable Belmont.
The only thing which gives me pause is the religious paraphernalia which
goes along with being a Belmont.

I'm really going to need some Castlevania music for my party now...
hrm... wonder where I could get some of that... *hint* *hint* : )

Oh... and it also occurs to me that the first two costume ideas I had
are also names for my computers that I use. Totally accidental of
course.
